The Windber girls varsity basketball team secured an impressive 57-39 victory over Ferndale on Tuesday night, relying on a suffocating defense and standout performances from key players.
Facing a talented Ferndale squad, Windber made its mark early by locking down the Golden Eagles' offense and forcing turnovers that shifted momentum their way. The defensive effort was led by Kaylie Gaye, who tallied 6 steals, disrupting Ferndale's rhythm throughout the game.
On the offensive side, Windber was fueled by Angle James, who delivered a game-high 19 points and dominated the boards with 13 rebounds. Her second-quarter surge, where she scored 7 points, helped Windber extend their lead going into halftime.
Kaylie also shined offensively, contributing 18 points and playing relentless defense to keep Ferndale on their heels.
Ferndale showed flashes of brilliance, but Windber's ability to adjust and lock down defensively kept the Golden Eagles from gaining any sustained momentum.
With this victory, Windber continues to prove itself as a contender, demonstrating both grit and teamwork in a season that looks increasingly promising.
